Nasim Khavari, MD, MPH

Dr. Khavari is the director of the Celiac Disease clinic at Stanford Children’s Health, which provides families with a full spectrum of expert care and education around symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of celiac disease, food allergies, non-celiac gluten sensitivity as well as other related gastrointestinal conditions.

Dr. Khavari is a board-certified pediatric gastroenterologist, and a Clinical Assistant Professor in Pediatrics at Stanford University where she supervises fellows and residents at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital.

She received her medical degree from University of Minnesota and went on to complete an internship and residency at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital and a fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital. Dr. Khavari also received a Masters in Public Health in Nutrition from Harvard University.

Dr. Khavari’s overall clinical and research interests are around celiac disease, eosinophilic gastrointestinal disease, nutrition and allergies in children.

Neha Shah, MPH, RD, CNSC

Neha Shah, MPH, RD, CNSC, is a clinical dietitian and a nutrition support specialist at Stanford Health Care.

She joined the Digestive Health Center at Stanford Health Care in 2010 and the Liver Clinic in 2014 to inaugurate and build Nutrition Services.

Neha works as part of the Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition care team where she provides medical nutrition therapy to those patients diagnosed with various GI and liver disorders, including celiac disease, food allergies, and other conditions.

As part of her work as a registered dietitian who supports the GI team, Neha helps develop nutrition plans and provides nutrition education as needed, including ongoing teaching the concepts of the gluten-free diet to patients and families.  Her aim is to empower her patients and families to implement nutritional strategies to resolve nutritional issues and symptoms for overall good health.

Nielsen Fernandez-Becker, MD, PhD

Dr. Fernandez-Becker is board-certified gastroenterologist, celiac disease specialist, motility specialist and a Clinical Assistant Professor in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Stanford University.

She received her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York and went on to complete a residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and a fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

Dr. Fernandez-Becker’s overall clinical and research interests are around immunological diseases including celiac disease, eosinophilic esophagitis, and food allergies. She is currently involved in research to determine the trigger that leads to celiac disease as well as a clinical trial on peanut allergy and creating tolerance. “Food allergies are so rampant; if we understand how to treat peanut allergies, perhaps we can apply those findings to other allergies,” said Dr. Fernandez-Becker of the study. She has also been a guest on KQED national public radio speaking about the pathophysiology of celiac disease.

Peter H.R. Green, MD

Peter H.R. Green, MD is the Phyllis and Ivan Seidenberg Professor of Medicine at the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University and Director of The Celiac Disease Center at Columbia University.

Dr. Green received his medical degree from University of Sydney, Australia. After completing his Residency and GI fellowship in Sydney he became a Research fellow at Harvard Medical School and in the Gastroenterology Department at the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the American College of Gastroenterology as well as a Member of the American Gastroenterologic Association and American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. In addition, he has lectured on celiac disease at many medical institutions throughout the United States as well as national and international meetings. Sayantani (Tina) Sindher, MD

Dr. Sindher joined the Sean N. Parker Center for Allergy & Asthma Research at Stanford University in January 2017. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Allergy and Immunology in the Department of Medicine, division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine. She divides her time between clinical trials and outpatient clinical care of pediatric and adult allergy and immunology patients. Tina completed her Pediatric residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Children’s Hospital at Montefiore in Bronx, NY and her fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), Philadelphia, PA. While at CHOP, she was a sub-investigator on multiple food allergy trials and participated in laboratory research focused on characterizing the peripheral and epithelial immune regulatory responses in children and adults with eosinophilic esophagitis.
